HOW TO APPLY
Please complete all questions to the best of your ability. Note that all positions available through this Leadership application are eligible for, but not guaranteed, travel sponsorship.
The application window for this event will close at 11:59 PM Pacific time on Monday, June 12th, 2023.
EVENT INFORMATION and AVAILABLE POSITIONS
US Nationals Weekend will take place on August 25th-27th, 2023 at the Westgate Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Available Roles
- US Nationals Head Judge - $1,250
- The Calling Head Judge - $1,150
- Side Events Lead - $1,150
- Battle Hardened Head Judge - $950
- US Nationals / The calling Support Judge - $950
- Arsenal Judge - $250/day
Note: All staff will receive sealed product based on the number of days that they are on staff:
- One (1) Day - Two (2) Boxes of Dusk Till Dawn
- Two (2) Day - Three (3) Boxes of Dusk Till Dawn
- Three (3) Day - Four (4) Boxes of Dusk Till Dawn
Judges may apply for any mix of roles over the weekend, simply mark the shifts that you are applying for in the Application Form. If you anticipate being unable to arrive on time or are requesting special accommodation for the beginning or end of your shifts, please contact us at judge@starcitygames.com.
AVAILABLE ROLES AND COMPENSATION
US Nationals Head Judge - $1,250 and one (1) case of Dusk Till Dawn Boosters
US Nationals is a three (3) day event with seven (7) rounds on Day One and Day Two with the Playoffs played on Sunday. The Judge selected to Head Judge US Nationals is expected to plan for the event including selecting teams and leads, pre-event briefings, and being a pre-event resource for staff. At the event, the Head Judge is responsible for US Nationals including taking appeals.
To apply to be the Head Judge of US Nationals, you should be Level 2 and confident in your ability to run a 500 Player Nationals event with twenty (20) floor judges at Professional REL. Head Judges for these events should be Rules and Policy Experts for the game of Flesh and Blood, and have extensive knowledge and experience with Investigations and be familiar with Both Limited and Constructed Tournament Rules.
The Calling Head Judge - $1,150 and one (1) case of Dusk Till Dawn Boosters
The Calling is a two (2) day event with rounds based on attendance on Day One (Saturday) and Day Two (Sunday) and Playoffs played after Day Two on Sunday. The Judge selected to Head Judge The Calling at US Nationals is expected to plan for the event including selecting teams and leads, pre-event briefings, and being a pre-event resource for staff. At the event, the Head Judge is responsible for The Calling including taking appeals.
To apply to be the Head Judge of The Calling at US Nationals, you should be Level 2 and confident in your ability to run a 700 player event with twenty-five (25) floor judges at Competitive (Day One) and Professional (Day Two) REL. Head Judges for these events should be Rules and Policy Experts for the game of Flesh and Blood, and have extensive knowledge and experience with Investigations and be familiar with Both Limited and Constructed Tournament Rules.
Side Events Lead - $1,150 and one (1) case of Dusk Till Dawn Boosters
The Side Events Lead is expected to plan for all side events including pre-event briefings and being a pre-event resource for staff. At the event, the Side Events Lead is responsible for all tournaments that do not have a contracted Head Judge, as well as taking appeals and conducting investigations for their events.
To apply to be the Side Events Lead at US Nationals Weekend you should be comfortable managing many (3-4) concurrent Flesh and Blood events with a staff of eight to ten (8-10) judges.
Battle Hardened Head Judge - $950 and one (1) case of Dusk Till Dawn Boosters
The Battle Hardened is a one (1) day event played on Sunday with rounds based on attendance. The Judge selected to Head Judge the Battle Hardened is expected to plan for the event including selecting teams and leads, pre-event briefings, and being a pre-event resource for staff. At the event, the Head Judge is responsible for the Battle Hardened including taking appeals.
To apply to be the Head Judge of the Battle Hardened, you should be Level 2 and confident in your ability to run a 300 player Battle Hardened event with ten (10) floor judges at Competitive REL.
US Nationals or The Calling Support Judge - $950 and one (1) case of Dusk Till Dawn Boosters
US Nationals is a three (3) day event with seven (7) rounds on Day One and Day Two with the Playoffs played on Sunday.
The Calling is a two (2) day event with rounds based on attendance on Day One (Saturday) and Day Two (Sunday) and Playoffs played after Day Two on Sunday.
Judges selected as Support Judges are expected to assist in planning for their assigned events and to be a pre-event resource for staff. At the event, the Support Judge reports to the Head Judge and will assist with taking appeals and stepping in for the Head Judge during breaks.
To apply to be a Support Judge at US Nationals Weekend, you should be Level 2 and confident in your ability to assist with US Nationals and The Calling events. Support Judges for these events should be Rules and Policy Experts for the game of Flesh and Blood, and have extensive knowledge and experience with Investigations and be familiar with Both Limited and Constructed Tournament Rules.
Arsenal Judge - $250 per Day plus Product
Judges selected for Arsenal Judge positions at US Nationals Weekend are expected to be leaders within the Floor Judge staff. Arsenal Judges work approximately 12-hour shifts and are more likely to be used as leads on main events.
Approximate shift times:
- Friday – 8:30 am – approximately 8:30 pm
- Saturday – 8:30 am – approximately 8:30 pm
- Sunday – 8:30 am – approximately 8:30 pm
Judges will receive $250 for each Arsenal Judge Shift. To apply to be an Arsenal Judge at US Nationals Weekend, you should be confident in your ability to be a leader on the floor and to support all levels of Flesh and Blood events.
EXPECTATIONS
Judges at Star City Games events are expected to positively contribute to the atmosphere of the event. They should behave in a professional manner at all times and constructively engage with players and other staff to create a welcoming and supportive environment for all attendees. Judges are expected to arrive on time and in appropriate attire to begin judging at the start of their assigned shifts.
Flesh and Blood focused Judges at Star City Games events are expected to prepare for each event by reviewing the Tournament Rules and Policy, Comprehensive Rules, and Penalty Guidelines. These documents can be found at the Flesh and Blood Rules and Policy Center.
JUDGE UNIFORM
Flesh and Blood focused Judges at US Nationals Weekend should bring their own Flesh and Blood judge shirt. If you do not have one, one will be provided for you.
All Judges should arrive with black professional attire and black, comfortable shoes. During breaks, or any other time that a judge is off duty, judges should remove or cover their judge shirt to indicate that they are not on shift.
CONTRACT AND TAX INFORMATION
Judges are independent contractors and will be required to sign an event contract for their work at SCG CON events. Compensation for judges that are residents of the United States will be provided in the form of a check at the conclusion of your final shift of the weekend or mailed to your address following the event. International judges may elect to receive their compensation in the form of a PayPal payment after the event instead. All Judges are required to submit a valid US tax form (W-9 or W-8 BEN) to Star City Games, in order to receive compensation.
