Legend Story Studios is excited to announce the opening of the Gen Con 2025 weekend staff applications!
This is your chance to join the team as a judge, scorekeeper or admin. Applications will close on Monday 7 April, 2025, 23:59 (anywhere worldwide). A selection will be made and communicated by Friday 18 April 2025. Please ensure you read through the entire application before applying.

The Gen Con weekend will include a mix of the following:
Learn 2 Play events, Learn 2 Play walk up demos, Casual events, Competitive Events (Sa/So), On Demand Events.
ROLES AND EXPECTATIONS
We are looking for judges to help with the event in the following roles, the description is only a broad overview to give you an idea of the role.
In the application indicate what roles you are interested. Please be aware that you may have different roles during the event, if applying for multiple.
If you apply for both Learn 2 Play and Floor Judge you may have days that have booth duties, applying for both will higher your chances to be staffed.
- Learn 2 Play Judge
- Your focus will be to teach groups of players Flesh and Blood, in a casual setting, at our event booths or at scheduled L2P events.
- You will also sometimes help out with scheduled events, please be aware that Learn 2 Play will take up most of the duties.
- Learn 2 Play - Basic certification is required for this.
- Please have a read to the Learn 2 Play articles for better outlines of what to expect.
- Floor Judge
- Your focus will be running our scheduled side events, in a casual and relaxed setting, featuring mostly newer players mixed with few more experienced players.
- There will also be selected competitive events on Saturday and Sunday, please indicate if you are interested in floor judging these.
- Level 1 judge certification is required for this, Level 2 is recommended for being interested in the competitive events.
- Please be aware that you sometimes will also need to help out with Learn to Play.
- Learn 2 Play - Basic certification is required for this.
- Please have a read to the Learn 2 Play articles for better outlines of what to expect.
- Scorekeeper/Admin
- You will facilitate helping with event sign-ups and registration.
- You will run scheduled events in the GEM, a understanding and familiarity with GEM is required for this.
- You may also assist in other administrative tasks like restocking the shop or move product.
- Learn 2 Play - Basic certification is encouraged for this position.
- Team Lead/Competitive Event Head Judge
- You will either Head Judge a up to 128 player competitive tournament or be responsible to assigned breaks and position for the general judge staff.
- Level 2 certification is required for this position.
- Learn 2 Play - Basic certification is encouraged for this position.
- Event setup starting noon
- This role is Wednesday only.
- You will help will building up the booths and event area, this includes lifting and carrying a lot of items around.
- Proper shoe wear and clothing is mandatory for this.
- Start time for this is noon.
The outline of roles and responsibilities above are an estimate of our staffing requirements for the event.
Please note that these are subject to change and may be adapted upon our final staff selection for the event.
GENERAL EXPECTATIONS
Staff of this show will be direct brand ambassadors for the game and should act accordingly. This means presenting themselves professionally as well as delivering great customer service for all attendees. Additionally, here are some general expectations:
- Shift times
- Your shifts each day can be in a window of roughly 8:00 to 23:00.
- Shift lengths will be around 10–11 hours, with a 90 minutes lunch break and at least one additional thirty-minute break.
- Please be aware that, if you are not available for the time frame above you need to mention that in the application, it may reduce your chance for being staffed.
- Your actual shift call times will vary by role and shifts.
- You are required to be ready to work your shift at your current call time, this means being on-time, in uniform, and ready to listen to your briefing.
- Please be aware that Sunday late shift will be assisting with both and area tear down. This will include dismantling the booths, helping organize leftover product and other similar work.
- Judge attire
- Judges are expected to arrive on time and in appropriate attire.
- Predominantly black pants, or similar, and predominantly black shoes.
- Staff shirts will be provided for this event. Please bring one yellow shirt as backup.
- Please avoid attire directly featuring brands of other TCGs.
- Staff communication
- We also expect every staff member of the event to update themselves on information posted in the staff forum to be aware of general information as well as their roles and responsibilities.
- Selling, buying and trading
- Staff or attendees are not allowed to sell or buy any items in or near the event hall.
- The only exception to this is official vendors in the event hall.
STAFF COMPENSATION
The staff outlined below, will receive the following per day worked, based on their role for that day.
Compensation boxes will be High Seas booster boxes.
Staff that is working 3 or 4 (full) days will get 1 additional booster box total.

Travel arranged and paid for by each staff member on their own, independently of the organizer.
Payments will be processed in check for US based staff members and paypal for non-US based staff.
Accommodation
Non-local staff will get lodging provided.
Every staff member will be provided a bed from the day before to the day after their shift days.
The rooms will be shared with other staff members.
Additionally, staff for the weekend will receive a 20 USD (if working 3 or 4 days) or a 10 USD (if working less days) transportation stipend to be able to get from and to the venue with public transportation or scooter rentals.
SPONSORSHIP
In addition to the staff compensation outlined above, sponsorship is available. Applicants can request sponsorship during the application process by responding to the relevant question. Please make reasonable requests. You will be able to set a minimum needed (we will not offer you less than that, if taken) as well as desired amount. Any given sponsorship will be paid out at the same time and together with the standard compensation.
STAFF RECOGNITION
All staff members regardless of the number of days worked, and their role will receive promotional items for the event.
This promotional gift is an expression of appreciation for the contributions of all staff working at this event. These items should not be considered part of, or in lieu of, your staff compensation for the event.
Additionally, all staff members who are Certified Level 1 or above with the Judge Program will receive a selection of judge specific promotional items.
A staff celebration will happen over the show days, it may be split into 2 parties to accommodate shift times.
The exact details of the staff celebration will be confirmed and communicated closer to the event.
