SCG JUDGE DISCORD
We will be utilizing the SCG Judge Discord for event information and updates as well providing more direct access to our staff before, during, and after events.
HOW TO APPLY
Applicants must be Level 2 at the time of application. Please complete all questions to the best of your ability. Note that Leadership roles are eligible for, but not guaranteed, travel sponsorship.
The application window for this event will close at 11:59 PM Pacific time on Monday, August 4th, 2024.
EVENT INFORMATION
2025 World Championship Weekend will take place on November 14th-16th, 2025 at the Philadelphia Convention Center.
AVAILABLE POSITIONS
- Scheduled Events Lead - $1,375 and one (1) box of Super Slam
- Battle Hardened Head Judge - $1,175 and one (1) box of Super Slam
- Arsenal Judge (3-Day) - $1,125 and one (1) box of Super Slam
Judges may apply for any mix of roles over the weekend, simply mark the shifts that you are applying for in the Application Form. If you anticipate being unable to arrive on time or are requesting special accommodation for the beginning or end of your shifts, please contact us at judge@starcitygames.com.
AVAILABLE ROLES AND COMPENSATION
Scheduled Events Lead - 3-Day Position - $1,375 and one (1) box of Super Slam
The Scheduled Events Lead is expected to plan for all side events including pre-event briefings and being a pre-event resource for staff. At the event, the Scheduled Events Lead is responsible for all tournaments that do not have a contracted Head Judge, as well as taking appeals and conducting investigations for their events.
To apply to be the Scheduled Events Lead at 2025 World Championship Weekend you must be Level 2 and should be comfortable managing many (5-6) concurrent Flesh and Blood events with a large (10-12) staff of judges.
Battle Hardened Head Judge - 3-Day Position - $1,175 and one (1) box of Super Slam
The Battle Hardened is a one (1) day event played on Sunday with rounds based on attendance. The Judge selected to Head Judge the Battle Hardened is expected to plan for the event including selecting teams and leads, pre-event briefings, and being a pre-event resource for staff. At the event, the Head Judge is responsible for the Battle Hardened including taking appeals.
To apply to be the Head Judge of the Battle Hardened at 2025 World Championship Weekend, you must be Level 2 and should be confident in your ability to run a 300 player Battle Hardened event with a large (8-10) staff of judges at Competitive REL.
Arsenal Judge - 3-Day Position - $1,125 and one (1) box of Super Slam
Judges selected for Arsenal Judge positions at 2025 World Championship Weekend are expected to be leaders within the Floor Judge staff. Arsenal Judges work approximately 12-hour shifts and are more likely to be used as leads on main events.
Approximate shift times:
- Friday – 8:30 am – 8:30 pm
- Saturday – 8:30 am – 8:30 pm
- Sunday – 8:30 am – 8:30 pm
To apply to be an Arsenal Judge at 2025 World Championship Weekend, you must be Level 2 and should be confident in your ability to be a leader on the floor and to support all levels of Flesh and Blood events.
EXPECTATIONS
Judges at Star City Games events are expected to positively contribute to the atmosphere of the event. They should behave in a professional manner at all times and constructively engage with players and other staff to create a welcoming and supportive environment for all attendees. Judges are expected to arrive on time and in appropriate attire to begin judging at the start of their assigned shifts.
Judges are expected to prepare for each event by reviewing the Tournament Rules and Policy, Comprehensive Rules, and Penalty Guidelines. These documents can be found at the Flesh and Blood Rules and Policy Center.
JUDGE UNIFORM
Judges at 2025 World Championship Weekend should bring their own Flesh and Blood judge shirt. If you do not have one, one will be provided for you. For the rest of your uniform, please arrive with black pants and black, comfortable shoes. We ask that you do not wear a hat or other prominent accessories while on shift.
During breaks, or any other time that a judge is off duty, we suggest that you remove or cover your Staff Shirt to indicate you are not available.
If you have concerns, or religious reasons that our dress code is an issue for you, please reach out so we can discuss accommodations.
CONTRACT AND TAX INFORMATION
Judges are independent contractors and will be required to sign an event contract for their work at SCG CON. Compensation for judges that are residents of the United States will be provided in the form of a check at the conclusion of your final shift of the weekend or mailed to your address following the event. International judges will receive their compensation in the form of a PayPal payment the week following the event instead. All Judges are required to submit a valid US tax form (W-9 or W-8 BEN) to Star City Games, to receive compensation.
