The Judge Cup Returns at Worlds 2025!
That’s right – the Judge Cup is back! On Wednesday, November 12th, before the World Championship kicks off, judges from around the globe will once again gather to battle for glory, pride, and the title of Judge Champion of the Year.
The Judge Cup is one of our most beloved traditions: a day-long tournament where judges showcase not just their dedication to the game, but their skill at the highest level of competition. Expect a full day of play! Can’t make it in time for Round 1? You can still jump in, though each missed round will be counted as a game loss.
This is more than just a tournament – it’s a celebration of our community. Sponsored by LSS and free of charge, the Judge Cup runs at Competitive REL, mirrors Worlds formats, and rewards not only top performances but also participation. Yes, there will be mystery prizes revealed throughout the day, including door prizes – but only for those who intend to play the full event!
Eligibility:
To join the Judge Cup, you must:
* Be Level 1 or higher,
* Be in good standing with LSS and the Judge Program, and
* Have a 2025 event listed in your JudgeHub profile in a judge capacity.
Applications will be handled first come, first served if we reach capacity. At the same time, we also welcome applications for event staff (Head Judge, Floor Judges, Scorekeeper).
Remember: while the Judge Cup is about fun, competition, and community, it is still an official activity. Judges are representing themselves and the entire program, and are expected to demonstrate the highest standards of fair play, integrity, and professionalism.

Introducing the Judge Cup Team
To extend the number of people involved in organizing each Judge Cup and avoid a single point of failure, we are creating a permanent Judge Cup Team. This team will share responsibility for planning and executing Judge Cups going forward.
The team’s responsibilities will include:
* Communicating with relevant parties (LSS, local game stores, etc.) and the public,
* Securing LSS endorsement, venues, prizes, staff compensation, and logistics,
* Crafting professional plans suitable for a high-profile tournament,
* Selecting staff to meet the needs of the event, the staff, and the program,
* Supporting the Head Judge in delivering the team’s vision, and
* Taking on responsibilities during the event itself.
Presence at the 2025 Judge Cup is not mandatory, and regional diversity will be considered in team selections. However, members should be able to travel to future Judge Cups as needed.
This is an unpaid volunteer position, with no compensation for travel or other arrangements. Experience organizing large, high-profile events (especially as a TO) is a strong plus.
Judges interested in joining the Judge Cup Team should contact me directly on JudgeHub, explaining why they believe they would be a good fit for the role.
