Auckland Armageddon

EVENT INFORMATION

Card Merchant in partnership with Legend Story Studios is bringing Flesh and Blood to New Zealands premier Pop Culture Convention, Auckland Armageddon! This booth will be a demonstration booth showing the basics of Flesh and Blood to the thousands of attendees over the long weekend (Saturday October 25- Monday October 27 inclusive). The booth will not be in operation for Opening Night on the Friday.

This is your chance to join the team as a member of our Learn to Play team. Applications will close on Friday September 19 2025, 23:59 (anywhere worldwide). Staff selections will be made and communicated by Friday September 26 2025. Please ensure you read through the entire application before applying.

Applicants in their cover letters should detail their experience with conventions, learn to play events (including in local communities) and how many of the three show days you would be able to work at.

Judge Shirt Sizes are being collected in case there will be access to Demo team Shirts (unconfirmed).

Show Hours:
Saturday October 25 - 9am to 6pm 
Sunday October 26 - 9am to 6pm
Monday October 27 - 10am to 5pm

Learn 2 Play Judge

• Your focus will be to teach groups of players Flesh and Blood, in a casual setting, at our event booth.
• Learn 2 Play - Basic certification is mandatory.
• Level 1 is strongly recommended.

Standby Attendant

IMPORTANT: if you are selected as a standby you will receive a convention badge but no other compensation or gifts unless you are activated for at least 1 day.

• You will attend Armageddon and be contactable/check in with the booth at specified times, if we need additional assistance you will be activated and work that role for the day.
• You may be activated for anywhere from 0 to 4 days.
• If/when you're not activated you may enjoy the convention!
• If you are interested in this option please select "Standby" as a sponsorship type (you may select both "Standard" and "Standby" to apply for both types of roles).

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS

Staff of this show will be brand ambassadors for the game and should act accordingly. This means presenting themselves professionally as well as delivering great customer service for all attendees.

Additionally, here are some general expectations:

Shift times

• Your shifts each day will be as below for each individual day, inclusive of a 1 hour and 30 min break.
  • Saturday - 8.30am - 6.30pm
  • Sunday - 8.30am - 6.30pm
  • Monday - 9.30am - 7.30pm
• You are required to be ready to work your shift at your current call time, this means being on-time, in uniform, and ready to listen to your briefing.
  Please be aware that Monday shift will be assisting with booth and area tear down. This will include dismantling the booths, helping organize leftover product and other similar work.
• Shift lengths will be around 10 hours, with 90 minutes of break time. Auckland Armageddon is a convention, and being able to attend the broader convention is important. Giving our staff the chance to attend events that are fun or interesting to them is a priority for us. We are willing to make adjustments to breaks across days to make sure you enjoy the event. • Please be aware that, if you are not available for the time frames above you need to mention that in the application, it may reduce your chance for being staffed.

Judge attire

• Judges are expected to arrive on time and in appropriate attire.
• Predominantly black pants, or similar, and predominantly black shoes.
• Please avoid attire featuring brands of other TCGs.
• We are investigating the possibility of Learn to Play shirts. Please bring regular judge attire as backup.

Staff communication
We also expect every staff member of the event to update themselves on information posted in the staff forum.

Selling, buying and trading
Staff are not allowed to sell or buy any items in or near the event booth.

STAFF COMPENSATION

The daily rate for being staffed on this show is one box of Super Slam per day.

Entry to the Armageddon convention is included. If you are staffed for 1 or 2 days you are welcome to attend the show as an attendee with the pass. 

All staff members regardless of the number of days worked, and their role will receive promotional items for the event.
This promotional gift is an expression of appreciation for the contributions of all staff working at this event. These items should not be considered part of, or in lieu of, your staff compensation for the event.

We are unable to offer travel allowances/expense for this show.
